When the new year came I was very excited to post regularly on this blog. But sadly I failed again. Anyway, I think its a good time to post an update about me..

OFFLINE LIFE:

March is ending soon and my deadline for PRC submission is fast approaching which is on May 13. I have't finished typing all my scrub information yet and it needs signing after that from respective clinical instructors and chief nurses. I also need to catch up on my readings and studies if I am to aim passing the nursing board exam at one take.

ONLINE LIFE:

I don't have much enthusiasm lately. I've been slacking off with my moderating jobs. I hope the admins won't approach me about this matter. I have lots of plans to test and sadly this puts a conflict of interest on my part since I'm also busy offline. I appreciate that my friends PJ and Des bothers to talk with me when I am down.

Avast! Anti-virus Boot Time Scan

These past few days my computer is very laggy and webpage loading speed is like the stone-age. I don't know what's causing it. I can't open yahoo messenger too. I have tune-up utilities with one click maintenance and avast as my anti-virus. When I run both, it doesn't show any virus or problems in my computer. I reached the point of desperation that I need to surf the net with a good pc running and all my efforts to try correct it was futile. I have no background with computer stuff so I'm just trying to try and fix things without spending money to bring it to some technician.

I was checking what else I can do with Avast. This is what I found.

BOOT TIME SCAN
The boot-time scan is one of the main weapons of avast! It runs before Windows is loaded and before potential malware has a chance to activate, thereby enabling an infected system to be cleaned before any damage is done. Moreover, the avast! boot-time scan uses direct hard drive access, which bypass the OS file system drivers and is thus able to handle even the most stubborn rootkits.

I highlighted the phrases which made me to try it out. The results? I had over 2000 files infected with Win32: Relevant-M [PUP] and most of it are Win32: Sality. I was amazed that I have this many infected files. After the scan and deletion of these unwanted files. My computer is all fine in loading and no longer laggy! I wish I did this earlier last year. It doesn't pay to be ignorant.

Avast! Boot-Time Scan is simply wonderful!

How to let it run?
If your using Avast too then open it.
Go to "Scan Computer" then look for "Boot Time Scan".
Simply click the "Schedule Now" button.
Then in the "Areas to Scan" just choose "All hardisks".
Also don't forget to set Heuristics sensitivity to HIGH. It's this easy.

A great phone by Nokia!

Cellphones are a need to today's daily living. The trend now with mobile phones are with touch screens. Which are expensive, will ran out of battery after a day, loads slow if you have a big archive of songs and videos and for me I don't find it worth it. I simply go for practical phones.

I go with mobile phones which has...
long battery life.
gets easily full when charged.
over 50 messages to save.
sent items.

Not neccesarily a colored one. With or without mp3 music or songs. I go for these kind of phones simply because of practicality. I don't have the leisure of charging my phone everyday.

Now I found such a phone which suits for me!
The Nokia 1203 and 1204.

Features: It has a flashlight. Does not need to take long hours to get fully charged up. Stand by battery life is 5 days! Can save upto 100 messages. It's not colored, neither does it have music or videos. But this is the phone for me.

Now we come to an interesting part of the discussion, how much does it cost? Here in the Philippines, I bought each phone for about 1,299 Php! That's over $20 in American dollars.
If you would ask me if the price is worth it for such a simple phone, then the answer is YES!!!

Making an online forum

So it occurred to me that I wanted an online forum. Since I have been lingering in these places for over a year now.

A good friend of mine gave me free hosting. (I'm lucky I have a good friend)

So the question now came to me. "What forum script will I use?"
I googled for free forum scripts and found several ones to choose from.

1. phpBB
2. SMF
3. myBB
4. yaBB
5. E-blah.

Several friends recommended to use SMF, because:
1. It has active online development.
2. Most secured free forum script.
3. Easy customizable
4. Lots and lots of free mods to use.

I said, ok why not give it a try.
Doing things in the cpanel really took time for me to know.
I have no experience doing such a thing before.

Eventually I knew how to install it online.
Know the basics, editing themes, adding mods etc.

Now I'm happy. But not completely happy.
SMF is really good, custumize friendly and simple to use once you get to know how to do it.
But the appearance is not appealing. I have downloaded dozens of themes and none of it would satisfy me.

So, I left it for now. Until I saw another forum using myBB script.
I said Gosh!, this looks good! The appearance is almost the same with vBulletin (the best paid forum script today). Then there I go, "I want to use this one!!" LOL.

Bookstore... books! books! books!

I was in a bookstore the other day, and today or later on for that matter I'm talking to myself "WHAT THE HELL am I doing in there??" It's not my typical hang-out place when I have nothing to do and roaming the city for unwinding sessions. Ok so enough of the rudeness in me. I happened to ask the saleslady for a reviewbook about a certain concept in the field I am in to. I did a quick look and I was surprised! The questions were sooooo similar to our major exam questions the other year, the situations, the choices, the drugs almost everything!. In the midst of the shock I got (yes I was shocked, I'll tell you why), I immediately purchased that book. Went home and tried to finish reading it which later was in vain. It ended up in a corner of my room left to collect dust for eternity! Bwahahaha (Ok that was being sarcastic in a sick way).

Ok, to be serious. I almost did finish reading it until I got caught up trying to meet deadlines with requirements. I said I was shocked because I never knew about it in the first place or no good soul bothered to tell about it. It could have helped me bigtime back then. I then bought a another review book about another concept and after having a fixed time of reading these books everyday, I find myself understanding things better than I did before. Now I have set my mind to buy another book this weekend if I manage to save more money from my allowance.

The moral of this incident is. "Reading a lousy-looking book is not soo bad until you get the message it was intended to relay" and "It pays to invest in study material"

Incident reports! What a semester!!

When I went in the nursing study, I told myself not to get an incident report even though my grades aren't that high. I aim for character rather than intellectual superiority. You can be smart and don't have the right attitude is a no-no for me. There are several reasons established why you can earn an incident report. Our beloved clinical instructors told us every generakl orientation that incident reports can either be a way of compliment a students outstanding performance or discipline in any shortcoming along this endeavor.

Going along my 2nd and 3rd year, I was happy that I didn't have any. It made me happy. The worst time is this semester. On my senior year. I was absent for 2 clinical days because I was sick which earns me 16 hours of make-up duty another 400 pesos for me to spend. Then my clinical intructor gave me an incident report for another 16 hours for neglecting my bedside duties of regulating my patient's IV fluid. Today, I just have earned another one for behavioral sanction. Eating along the national road wearing our clinical uniform and on duty hours. My day coudn't get any worst!

Its giving me rebellious intentions, "so its my last year huh? might as well do some crazy things!" Damn it, it hurts my ego this much.

Skype simply amazing!

I'm sure all of us are using several Instant messengers. Windows messenger, yahoo messenger, skype and a lot more. Yahoo IM is quite popular and I am using it too. But I want to blog about Skype. I had to use it when I need to call someone abroad. I must say it made me save a lot of money for international calls. Here are the reasons why.

1. Skype has better quality when it comes to calls.
2. The interface opens up in quickly in old computers like mine.
3. Has lower calling rates when compared to Yahoo! Messenger IM - Landlin or CP calls.
4. And last but not least, they support Paypal if you don't have a credit card to buy their skype credits this would make it convenient.

I'm here in the Philippines. Often times I communicate with my aunt, uncles and cousins in America. It would be very money-wise if a lot of them knows how to use an IM. But my aunt and uncles don't. So they had to use a phone card to call us. First time I scrolled over the call rates of skype I was amazed! It's very cheap when you are going to call someone in the states! For as low as $ 0.021 cents! OMG, I liked it when I can use my Paypal funds to buy their credits unlike with YM which doesn't have this feature. When I had enough bucks in my Paypal account I bought $10 and guess what?! I was able to call them hours longer compared with buying cellphone load here or them buying phone cards there. But I'm a bit sad because my skype credit is almost out of funds and I am going to try to earn some more bucks online to get more credits in Skype.

I've been keeping in touch with one of my cousins. We seldom talk lately because everyone seems to be busy. Every time I had a chance to chat with her she's at work. Yesterday we managed to chat though and she's been talking about her little angel (my niece). She told me that she's planning to buy her new clothes and also a little something as a reward for being a good little girl. Busy as she is with work and tired when at home, she plans to buy things online. We found an online shop where she had a lot of selections for girls clothing categorized for specific ages.

As for the "little something" she mentioned, she browsed the pets and toys category but she hasn't made up her mind yet. She finds the selections interesting and the site gives a lot of merchants to select from. Browsing some more categories lead her into window shopping for prices and other things that she would be interested in buying such as school supplies, cosmetics and beverages for herself. She can't believe that all of the things that she could think of buying are found in one place online!

It was getting late for her and she needs to wake up early for work the following day. She's going to show and browse the site again with her boyfriend so they can decide what to get for their daughter and check out more offers and prices. Medical Transcription a demanding job

This is the common setting when a medical trancriptionist is working. Looks very simple right? Sitting all day facing the computer and transcribing. But its not so simple if you ask me.

I came to hear about medical transcription from a friend online. I searched over the internet and I found that the requirements are very simple for a person who is in any medical related field. So I enrolled myself in a school and this month I would be getting my certificate. I am attracted to this because of a chance to work at home. But lately I realized that this profession is very demanding.
Why? Because it requires knowledge of human anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, medical terminology, laboratory results, and almost everything a doctor should know. Not only that you need to be very good with written English, and a high accuracy rate matched with a fast typing speed. I say it is demanding looking at the requirements. A common knowledge for doctors and a English proficiency of a English college teacher. And for what amount of pay? A few cents per line you transcribed or a few bucks per thousands of words? It looks very underpaid if you ask me. It is difficult to be an MT, especially if you just finished the course and found a job. Your lucky if you find a considerate dictator that speaks clearly and spells out uncommon terms or medicines.

I managed to find a friend who is doing MT homebased. She was able to let her client assess me and hire me on a trial basis. I was very happy. But then the rate is very low. I accepted it though considering I am a new and I am not yet very fast in typing. I just said to myself, there is no such thing as easy money and continued doing this. The doctor used to send me work once a week. But it has been over a week now and I have not heard anything from him although he replies to my email. I'm not sure where this will lead to. It would help if people were open to say things like "your fired" or "I can't send you work anymre" etc. Although I don't think that this is the reason in my case. Geez, I hate suspense. This is making me a little frustrated.

WARNING: Fake Yahoomail Update!!!

I just woke up! As the usual day for me I go straight in to my computer check my emails. My ecurrency accounts and I found 1 very interesting email. I got a notification about yahoo wanting me to update my account information. I immediately checked who is the sender and it is not from a yahoo service email. Its from Yahoo! Mail Security Centre [verify.account0001@live.com]. Its very odd that this email is in my spam folder and is using a live.com email. I immediately wanted to blog it! LOL! Previously I have recieved scam emails from some foundation claiming that I have won something. Then This month I have recieved a few emails that my eccurrency account has been block and I need to reply to an email with all my log in passes and now they want our email details? What could be so important with our mails? More importantly if any of you get this type of email don't reply to it. Another phising activity.

Oh great another boring day for me! We had our Quiz today at school and after that I have nothing to do. I went back home, clicked in some ptc, made a post in some paid forum and checked some of my hyip investents. After that I have nothing more to do. I remember hearing a song of HIM the other day when I was really tired and stressed. It my first time hearing it and I really LIKED it A LOT!!

I don't know when this was composed and what year it was released (I don't concern myself of this things though) after listening to it I feel much better. A little bit relaxed. I believe anyone would agree that listening to music is a good way of relaxing hen feeling tired and stressed.

February 2, Yearly Fiesta

Every year we celebrate our annual fiesta in honor of our patron saint Nuestra Señora De la Candilaria (Our Lady of Candles). We never fail to celebrate it. It has been observed way back during the time of my great great grandparents. The image that you see on the left is the picture of our cathedral. A stone image of our patron saint is found there. It has been seen as a very holy artifact. My grandparents used to tell stories that during their time it was very small found by some fishermen on a corner of a river bank. Size was about less than 2 feet. But years and decades have passed it grew in size and now its over 5 feet tall. It made people think that it is very special and holy. People from neighboring towns and cities come here in devotion to her for blessings and a good life ahead. Which is a good thing for us and most residents here in Jaro. Relatives may it be close or distant comes over and celebrate it with us. A lot of my unknown relatives come by every year. It makes my grandparents happy. They would talk for long hours remembering their struggles in the past. I must say it is a good way of strengthening family bonds again. People nowadays are busy with life, work, and studies and only during this occasions we stop and think about our families.

Eight days before February 2 (which is tomorrow) we start our devotion by adding a Novena after our daily rosary. It will continue for 9 days and February being the ninth. A novena is a scared prayer in devotion to any saint. My grandparents take it seriously. But I being schooled in a Protestant school for all of my life fail to give much appreciation to it.

Foods and drinks: A fiesta is not well celebrated without tasty food and a lot of beverages. My aunts and uncles has sent the budget last month and my mom is doing the cooking. She is slicing meat at the moment to be cooked early dawn. About the beverages. I didn't invite my classmates over as I a m not good being a host and plus I can't ride along in drinking session. I have low tolerance for alcohol. But my brother is quite the opposite of me. He has bought a few cases of hard drinks for most of his classmates come every year to "drink and be merry". My family has been strict with us with vices but it is only during this occasion that they become ignorant and allow us to drink and smoke a lot (but of course the next day it is not allowed).

Guests do this "house-to-house eating behavior" during fiestas. You surely need to bring along some digestive medicines. You might end up having a stomach ache for over eating different kinds of food. Not all guests are into stay and drink. Other go to the plaza fair to try their luck with some street gambling. Elders to to cockfights and bet big money! At the en of the day. We have a lot of dishes to clean and some or no more food left (usually grandma gives it to her relatives as a take home give away).

Things I've been doing

For the past few months I have been very busy offline and online.

Offline:
First, I am a nursing student. I went back to school this 2nd semester because of a hard subject I failed last year. I aligned my goal not to fail this year and guess what? My pre-liminary exam went well. I was happy and thinking that I would be passing this semester with flying colors. My optimistic behavior got reversed after I knew the result of my mid-term exam. Sigh, it did not went well. the results is very low that it neutralized my score in pre-lim and at this rate I will fail again. I really feel stupid. My class in only on Thurday and Friday morning, giving me a lot of time to study and yet I failed? I spent the past few days reflecting on myself what am I doing wrong? What do I need to improve? Now on Monday, the college faculty has arranged a remedial class (because many failed) for all the student who failed to attend. Anyone who won't attend that will not be allowed to get a removal examination. This gives me pressure. I can't oput myself to study. If I get to study, it does not stick to my head. I've been trying to pressure myslef to do so. My first cousin is sponsoring my tuition and my mom is hoping for me to pass this year. Sometimes I'm tempted to bang my head to the wall (to punish myself).

Secondly, I'm a medical trasncription student. I got to know of it a few months back. Since I have some sapre time I took up schooling. The first three months went well. I being in another medical related course, had no problem passing medical terminology. We're doing practical transcription now. I found one of my former classmates is doing it home-based. She managed to have her client assess me and I think I got the job. But sadly, no reports are sent to me to do yet. Guess I need to find other clients and improve myself. This adds to my worries.

Lastly, I am living with my mom and younger brother. Along with 4 old people. Two of them are completely dependent and alsmot bed-ridden. I sometimes skip class when things get messy. My mom is turning out sickly lateley. I, being the eldest child am helping her out. I sometimes skip class or sleep very late watching over them (the old folks).

Online:
I am a forum moderator online. It became my outlet of stress and worries I have in life. It's fun helping newbies around. Aside from that I have joined a lot of online money making programs. PTCs, PTPs, Autosurfs andHYIPs. I earn a few buck in some and loss I others. I wish there was an effective way to earn something from the internet. Life is getting hard and difficult each day.

I still am hoing that things will work out well with me in school and find a worthwhile job online so I can help with the expenses in the house. As of the moment, writing this down made me feel a little better. I'm going back to studying now and I hope I pass that removal examination next week.

I haven't updated my blog quite much lately. I had a wonderful New Year and I am hoping for good things to come in this year. I'm going to finish medical transcription around the last week of February and I must say it's not too hard for me to learn it. We're going to have our midterm exams in nursing school on the 19th and I have not failed my prelim exam. I wish it would be the same in midterm. I need to keep pace with my studies as I have been busy online. Regarding the post title, last December I was hired to become a forum moderator in my favorite paid-to-post forum. It got me pre-occupied. I spend less time on other activities and focus in there. I find it quite fun. Our tasks include keeping the boards clean of spam, see to it that members follow the rules and any violations are given an infraction. I do check all the posts of our members whenever they request to be paid and I give my approval. Give new members new support and at the same time earn.

My Holiday

I never felt so busy with my previous holiday experiences. Last December 20 me, my younger brother and my mom went to Calinog. My dad's home town. One of my uncle called and invited us to go over for a little thanks giving celebration. It was fun seeing the rest of my uncles and aunt's on my father's side of the family. Last December 25 we went to Zarraga, my grand mother's hometown. It was also a splendid experience. Seeing the old folks. I never had this much fun before. Seeing a lot of unknown relatives makes my heart fill with joy. Our next destination is Bingawan on the 28th. I am looking forward to go there if I feel well. I am a bit ill and I think I caught a flu. But I will try to go tomorrow.

Christmas this year

For the past years Philippines has always started to express the celebration of the Christmas season early by decorating two or one month before December. It is an anticipated season where families gather and have a great time together. But for the years after until present date. People have been slowing down. And who could blame them? With all the price increase each year, people are being more practical and saves money as much as possible. It saddens me to see this. I used to see a lot of houses overly decorated with Christmas decors and lights, so warm, so happy and that around the months of August and November. Now it the 17th, and you can really tell that Philippines is very much affected by the Global economy. I don't see what I used to which reflects the anticipation of the Christmas season.

Simbang Gabi

One of the best ways to spend my Christmas vacation is to go to church. Here in the Philippines we have this traditional mass every dawn which we refer to as "simbang gabi". It is actually a novena. It starts at the 16th of December and ends on the 25th. It is believed that if your truly devoted and never miss a mass you wish be granted a wish made at the last day. I used to observe this along with my friends. We wake up around 1 or never sleep and compensate by resting in the day just for everyone to be together. Gp to church and believe me it's one of the times where I see churches here overflow with people. Late comers just stand on the hallway until the mass is finished. After that, you hang out with your friends go to places, make some funny trips and go home. I completed my attendance once. It was when I was facing a problem with school. I was encouraged to attend it because of this believed wish that will be granted. So I wished to pass my second year and I did. But last year I haven't done this and was pretty occupied with school. It's a shame, I already missed two days. All this school stuff is getting me preoccupied. I wish to complete my attendance next year. Hopefully the gang would be around since much has happened. A few went to other regions to work, others are busy with their newly started family, and some of us are hooked into computer games. I plan to gather the group next year and observe this. For all time's sake.

Glad it's fixed!

My computer got broken again last week of November. I was so pissed off! I got so annoyed! I tried getting into system restore, configure something in the set up and anything I could think of but to no success. I had to make use of several internet cafe's nearby which distracted me by playing an online game which I can't play at home due to pc system requirements. And I can't seem to update my blogs. But two days ago, I decided to have it fixed to a technician. But before I send it. I opened the cpu and cleaned a lot of dust. And when I turned it on, I was surprised! It running ok! It only I have done it sooner I could have saved myself the expenses. Anyway, back to my regular activities.

I dn't like this time

I really am very upset these past few days. My computer is broken and it needs some reformatting. I never had it checked to some computer technician. (Saving money reasons). Just asking some people out how to fix it. I was very restless at the first day lie a person suffering from withdrawal syndrome. I was having "delirium tremens" for not being online and such. I never was able to focus on anything just kept thinking of how I can have it fixed. I never did bother mom about it. Because she's happy it's broken for all she cares about is her electric bill each month. It was a bad time for me. It was days before my preliminary examinations in nursing and medical transcription! But I could not put myself to study. Luckily, I don't see a problem with my Medtrans exam. Just today I'm much more worried with my nursing exam. I took it today. I was only able to browse a few pages of the book. And I'm thinking that I'm not going to enjoy the holiday worrying again how did I do with my exams. I really can't afford to be delayed again in this semester. The results will be posted next week. And right now I'm really anxious about my score.

I usually don't bother about this kind of messages. The last I received something like this was a misinformation saying that the president of our school died which was not true. So Let's examine what is this "ASPARTAME" is.

Wikipedia defines it as "spartame (or APM) (pronounced /ˈæspɚteɪm/ or /əˈspɑrteɪm/) is the name for an artificial, non-saccharide sweetener, aspartyl-phenylalanine-1-methyl ester; i.e., a methyl ester of the dipeptide of the amino acids aspartic acid and phenylalanine.

This sweetener is marketed under a number of trademark names, including Equal, NutraSweet, and Canderel, and is an ingredient of approximately 6,000 consumer foods and beverages sold worldwide. It is commonly used in diet soft drinks, and is provided as a table condiment in some countries. If we spend more than two hours each day in front of a computer screen, we are likely to experience some symptoms of computer vision syndrome (or CVS) which include but not limited to:

■ Headaches
■ Loss of focus
■ Burning, tired and irritated eyes
■ Double vision
■ Neck and shoulder pains
■ Dry eyes

Tips to overcome the problems of CVS:
1. Position your terminal at right angle to the window if possible. Avoid facing bright light coming from behind the computer screen as well avoid bright light falling on the computer screen behind you.
2. Install an antiglare screen.
3. Make sure the screen surface is clean. Clean your screen at least once a week.
4. The top of your screen surface needs to be at, or slightly below, eye level; find a comfortable distance between your eyes and the screen (usually eighteen to twenty-eight inches).
5. Adjust the brightness controls n the screen until they are comfortable to your eyes.
6. Be sure the screen doesn't flicker or wave - this could indicate that service or adjustment is needed.
7. Look away from the screen periodically. One may be able to mitigate the risk of CVS by adhering to the "20-20-20 rule". Every 20 minutes, focus your eyes on an object 20 feet away for 20 seconds.
8. Don't forget to blink - Blinking is very important when working at a computer - it rewets your eyes to avoid dryness and irritation. When working at a computer people blink less frequently - about five times less than normally. Tears coating the eye evaporate more rapidly during long non-blinking phases and cause dry eyes. The use of over-the-counter artificial tear solution can reduce the effects of CVS.
9. Also try this exercise. Every 30 minutes blink 10 times by closing your eyes as if falling asleep (very slowly). This will help rewet your eyes.
10. Computer eye glasses are available and if you are already wearing specs, change yours to these antiradiation and antiglare lenses on your next visit to the optometrist.
11. Gently massage your eyes, cheeks,and forehead from time to time to keep blood flowing and muscles loose.

I, young as I am, am currently experiencing some of the symptoms of CVS. And when it was lectured to us in Medtrans school I bothered to blog about it. And I hope this would really help

Typing Master Software

So I am eager to increase my typing speed and accuracy. At medtrans school we are using typing master to do our typing drills. It has a 1 to 13 lessons where in you are to practice typing two letters at a time. Plus letter games, word and sentence drills. But of course you need to press with the proper finger and without looking at the keyboard. So I like the software. Sadly at school they won't allow us to have a copy to practice at home. So I checked it out and I see the reason why. If you go to their site (typingmaster.com) you can see that the software is being sold. It also has a demo. So I just downloaded the demo and well it could do. But the time of every drills and test is limited. So in case you are interested in improving your typing speed and accuracy try downloading this. Five days ago my typing speed is around 19-24 words per minute with 94-96% accuracy and today I can type 24-29 words per minute with 96-99% accuracy. Hopefully next week I can reach 35 wpm and not less than 95% of accuracy.

So have you ever bothered to develop your typing speed?

We were taught the proper way to type using the keyboard, especially which finger to use for every letter. But sadly I did not pay much attention into doing it properly. I thought as long as I can type what I want to type that's enough for me. Presently I can type 16-24 words per minute depending on the word being typed properly. I never imagine that I would be relearning it. So I mentioned about Medical Transcription in my other blog post. At first I never bothered about it. As time passed by, I kept hearing about it. I still have a few time to spare to look into it. So I did a google search. To summarize, Medical Transcriptionist acts as a doctors' typist. They are responsible for putting into writing patients' medical records and transcribing doctors reports. When I read about it, I was optimistic that I can a job like. I have transcribed a doctors order before. So I got really interested I went over a few schools and checked if they offered Medtrans. I found this school and the tuition is 17,000 pesos. You pick your schedule either regular morning and afternoon class good for 3-4 months or evening class good for 5-6 months. I paid the downpayment, but I'm not sure if we can spare money for the next payment. So I immediately emailed my cousins asking if they can cover up the remaining balance to be paid the following month. I got an immediate response asking if I am shifting course from nursing. So me and mom managed to talk things with them and I got my benefactor! Yey! Thank God for my cousins! We already owe them a lot. So today is my first day, we started out on improving our typing speed,. My hands are a bit stiff now. I never thought it would be difficult, but I believe I would benefit out of it. The goal is to be able to reach the to be able to reach 40 words per minute with an accuracy of 95%. So I need to improve. But I am am looking forward for the pharmacology and anatomy lecture. Hopefully it would help me refresh my learnings in nursing with the mentioned subjects.

Survivor Philippines Episode 24

I was busy with blogging and clicking when my friend dropped by early yesterday evening. He mentioned he doesn't want to miss survivor Philippines. Because of the voting out that's going to happen. So when it showed up we watched the episode. Geez, that Marlon is really getting on my nerves. He was expressing the idea that he was going to be voted out. And he talking about it being his birthday present. On the humane aspect, being voted out on his birthday would be a sad thing. But seeing him voted out is what I believe to be a desire of all or most of the viewers. So the last part came where the votes are being shown . Damn episode! It was 4 votes on Kiko and 4 on Marlon when the episode ended. GMA really know how to keep their viewers on the suspense. So I have to wait and see the result on Monday.

2005 Year Book

I'm glad that I finally got my yearbook today. I graduated in CPU Development High School last 2005 and was part of the centennial batch. I feel blessed to be graduating in highshool as a part of our school's Centennial graduates. And you don't become a part of that in every century. I have been enrolled in my Alma mater ever since I was in kindergarten. And I must say that the reason that I never planned on transferring to other schools when I got deloaded was because I'm after the loyalty award. I consider myself a true Centralian for this reason alone. So I manage to go over my yearbook 5 times since this morning. I usually got caught up reading other people's philosophy or motto in life and I'm thinking of what would be a good motto for me to put when I graduate? I had a few laughs seeing classmates and remembering their funny moments and good times spent during high school. Sure you would miss those good old days. Enjoying your youth, meeting new friends and everything. Now at 20 I feel old. Busy with life, facing adult decisions, less time socializing and I sure did have a good time going over memories.

Family issues

We have two extra houses and we rent it to other people to get an extra income for the family. It's actually owned by my uncle but due to his good fortune in Kansas he owns 5 acres of land and is happily living with his American wife and does not bother about it. It was transferred to my mother's name and only me and my brother are her heirs and both of us are taking up nursing. If you look at it you think "financial stability" but that's not the case. I really am bothered with the people that rent our houses. Every time they go they leave problems, unpaid bills and some furniture missing. And that is not something to smile about. One of the house was rented to a distant relative but before all souls day they left leaving electric and water bills unpaid. Not to mention a few of the furniture is missing which was placed there for me to use in case I quarrel with my mom and leave the house and live by myself. Thinking about it if your relatives would see your side of your family to be in good financial status they tend to come and borrow money a lot. If you go and request for their payment they would give you comments that "it's only chicken feed" to what we receive each month from from relatives in the states. And that would leave them not to pay the borrowed money. And many cases, My family leaves these matters unresolved. But I can't stand it. They are leeching from other people. And you see them spending money on useless things, able to afford many cases of heavy beverages everyday but they come to you and look pitiful saying they have no food to eat. THIS IS A SOCIAL CANCER! Something that I don't like living in the Philippines. When I become a nurse and my dad would request me to go to the states I will work hard and bring my mom and brother there. Leaving behind the crab mentality, leeches and lazy relatives behind. Our family is a bit soft and get's easily sympathetic when they are presented with problems from our relatives especially my grandmother and mother. But this has got to stop. Lazy people are abusing this weakness of ours. We HIGHLY value virtues of honesty, reliability and good character and this kind of people are not among most of our relatives. We don't resort to tricking or deceiving other people its the other way around for us. Everytime me my grandmother and mother talk about this, we really wonder why people are like that? We would only resort to prayers and we believe in Karma.

Medical Transcription

With all the earning online opportunity that I tackle in. I have not felt any fulfillment. That's because you either just click, click, click and surf or post and requires no skills. It seems easy and for my opinion, only incompetent people rely sooo much on easy things your better off betting on lottery, But things done with a little hardship is always much appreciated. I'm a nursing student and I feel the irony of spending hundreds of thousands of pesos just to end up relying on some clicking/surfing program to earn a few bucks. I met up with a data entry job called Medical Transcription which is inline with my field. I see it a bit challenging and requires the application with the knowledge of human anatomy, pharmacology and pretty much the things a nurse does on duty which is transcribing doctors order. I'm trying to learn MT and well, Assessing myself I'm positive that this is something that I can appreciate for myself.

Back to School

Today is the first day of school. We had our general orientation which is held every first day of each semester to be reminded of the rules and regulations, dress codes and conduct. Prior to that we had a convocation to enrich our spirituality. Before going to school today, I never thought that I would feel good wearing my old school uniform. A white shirt and black slacks. We were the last batch to have that uniform until the school implemented the universal uniform. It distinguishes the medical course that you are taking once you go walk around the campus. Which is envied by the lower years after our batch. I was moved by the pastors message. It was about a spiritual disease called "Ingratitude". I never enjoyed a school convocation this much as I did before. Enjoyed or rather the word I should use is "miss". It feels good to be back and I'm looking forward the passing this semester.

All Souls day and family

We live in Jaro, and we usually spend our all souls day here where most of my mother's relatives are. We never had any much contact with our father's side of relatives before. Prior to all souls day we we're invited to come to Zarraga where my dad's relatives on his maternal side are because one of my uncles had arrived from Afghanistan and my grandmothers wants to have a little family reunion with the occasion. I for one don't want to miss such a reunion. It's a good time to know who you are related too. When me and my brother arrived there it was passed lunch time. We ate, drank and played cards. Talked to my uncles who are around my age and I'm happy to see the family. It was getting dark and before we head off home we accompanied our grandmothers go to the cemetery to bring flowers and pay our respects. Along the way we we're introduced to more of their relatives who are heading off home themselves. At the cemetary we we're shown the resting places of our forefathers. But the introduction to relatives did not stop there. Beside the mausoleum was also a relative. Funny, they had a nurse who works in the hospital I'm having my intern in. And I remember going on duty in that area. We had a couple of laughs and was properly introduced and a little trace up of what is the exact blood relationship we have. Another funny thing is that A classmate of mine passed by and I was surprised that his mother was called by my grandmothers. The guy was a good friend of mine in first year. We got separated because of our school alphabetical sectioning system and we see each other at school sometimes. What a small world! We are blood related, hahaha. We we're arranged to go home with them as they are on they way to go back to the city. Before departing my grandmothers caught the attention that me and Micheal we're classmates and never knew we were relatives until that moment. So they want to hold a family reunion on December 25 where many of our relatives go home and spend the holiday. And for the purpose of having all the family being introduced properly. They even giggled on the idea that maybe their grandchildren are being intimately involve (bf and gf)with each other not knowing they are relatives. So after that we headed off home. And we see each other again on Christmas. When we arrived home, our mother and family is already praying the all souls novena we do every year. The foods are set on the table and we joined them pray. After that told them what happened during our stay in Zarraga. A few neighbors came by and we ate together and pretty much had a great time.

Enrollment Day

I was a bit anxious going to school, but yesterday was our schedule for enrollment. I was on my way when I saw a couple of returnees like me and I was happy. Even though we weren't classmates before we all got along pretty well. running here and there typing and printing a few more requirements. We ned to make a face to face consultation with the dean regarding our sections and the line was very long. We got interrupted by a fellow returnee being punched by her boyfriend with unknown reasons. So the dean attended that matter first holding off the line. We finished taking our sections by 4:30 and I had to go back to school today because of that incident. But nevertheless, I'm getting a positive vibe about going back to school.

I'm saving money for Christmas

I've been occupied with things and I didn't notice that time was passing by so fast and the next time I would notice it would be Christmas! I can only imagine the fun. It's fun and its the time where we bring out our savings and spend it on food, decors, gifts (which reminds me I need to give out presents to 6 Godchildren of mine). Sad part is,I haven't save up anything My ATM accounts are sucked up and are left with maintaining balances because I was depressed with what happened to me in school that I kept spending my money overeating anywhere I go. And, most of my allowance goes to household utility bills and in tuition(College can really suck your family funds dry) But it's not too late to save. I have one more month to save money and I wonder how much can I save? A rather fitting question can I save enough money to cover the expenses? I'll start immediately I might be lucky if I can save 50 pesos a day until December 1. But, life is full of surprises and most of it are sudden expenditures. Hopefully I can save something for it.

I can't seem to make up my mind with the things I'm in. I'm focusing on blogging. And right now I will focus on putting contents in my blog. A friend which I met during my venture (also a Filipino) has been in PTC's, paid forums and autosurf. He earned in some of them and now he joined a blog advertising site and was given two assignments. He earned $19 from those two posts and possibly he will receive more offers just this month. I have read about this a couple of months back in emotera's blog and I signed up in one (I can't remember the site name) but got my blog post rejected because it was not over 1 month old. After that experienced I forgot about it and continued with ptc's gpt's ptr's and autosurf. Now I'm thinking about reconsidering these blog advertising sites and seems to be a good source of sideline income. And whats ore they pay through paypal which I like very much.

For my younger brother

Tomorrow my younger brother will take his Nursing Aptitude Test (NAT). It is a requirement for second year nursing students in our school if you want to proceed to your third year. The results will be next year around January and February. I am a bit worried for him. When I took my NAT I reviewed at a review center. But he did not take any review sessions. This NAT has been a vanity at our school for several years. The administration would dictate how much number of students they will take for the next year and the rest would be forced to look for another nursing school or wait for a year and retake the NAT exam. So if there are around 800 second year nursing students this semester and if the administrators would dictate to just take the top 300. Well there's nothing else to do but look for a new nursing school. And a popular option would be West Negros College, Filamer and St. Gabriel School of Nursing. No nursing school in Iloilo would take in the "rejects" as you may call it. Which is sad for families and aspiring student nurses. I won't wonder why if ever the schools enrollment statistics would decrease dramatically for the following years to come. I wish and pray all the best for my brother. May he and his batch pass the exam and hope to see them reach their level 3 and graduate as a Centralian Nurse.

I want to learn the Korean language

So I notice that from time to time the number of Koreans increase here in Iloilo. And when I was applying for jobs at call centers I mingled with several people. While waiting for our application result we talked about other earning alternatives. One girl has an option of teaching Koreans English. And another guy has been doing it in a big hotel here but only during Christmas because of vacation in Korea that they send their children here to learn English. And that holiday pay is not bad. 10,000 pesos for that month. And if I know the language I won't waste that opportunity! I'm now searching for ebooks on how to learn the Korean language. And besides it might be fun or just a temporary craze for me.

I haven't spend much time watching tv for a couple of months and most of the time I'm facing my computer net searching (that's why my blog is titled inet-search) of things I like to search. Today a friend dropped by and bothered me to search about survivor Philippines videos, reviews and comments. We found this site survivor Philippines.tv. She went over reviews about the posted episodes and read a few comments. I'm a bit facinated to see her relate and express annoynace of a survivor cast. LOL and it seemed she'd not the only. A few commentators as well. I'm not into these stuff. But I might check all the episodes out and might get hooked with it.

Thoughts about going back to school

I mentioned in several of my post about me going back to school. So enrollment is a couple of weeks from now. So I've been bothered by how will I go back to school? I would see same old and new faces. I would be in class of students mostly a year younger than me but will be accompanied by a few fellow "returnees" as that would refer to us. I'm retaking one subject to the same topics and lectures. I might have the same lecturers. Being deloaded from school had a negative hit on my ego. It made me reflect if I am intellectually unfit for the nursing profession. Which made me question if the Nursing Aptitude Test (NAT) is of any use in determining ones potential in this field. Will I be taking similar major exams? Will I be doing better than before? Can I pass this semester and proceed to my 4th year? All this time which I should be spending on self-study and reviews were wasted on playing browser games, hanging around in chatrooms, blogging, clicking on ptc's, posting in paid forums and searching a way to earn from the net. My mom is worried about me if I can do better. And well she's not the only one. For the meantime, I really need to collect everything I learned back and make use of it for this time. And sad part is, I'm not spending time in it. I guess my future is clouded. And more disappointments to come.

My IP address is wrong

And when I surf for IP address locator add-ons its still the same. I don't understand why this is so. But it has been bugging me now. I don't know how to correct it. In Iloilo City, there are over 5 call centers and the number is growing.

It has been eyed by fresh graduates and undergraduates for employment. But due to the sudden increase most people does not fully understand what it is. Many job seekers from the nursing profession had difficulty getting the job. Most failed in the final interview. And I am one of them. In applying for the job you need to (1) Make a personal appearance (2)Submit your resume (3)Take a series of exams (4) Take the initial interview and last (5) Take the final interview. After this they will contact you for the training if they find you a suitable for the job or they will tell you to re-apply after 6 months or expect a call from them.

When I came home today, I immediately went to turn on my computer. It is placed in our store. And lately our store has been infested by big rats! Yesterday it chewed the wire of my modem power cable. Luckily I managed to tape it back. But today it chewed my computer mouse cable! I was so pissed off!! I tried to tape it back and guess what? It has four minor wires and it would take a lot of time so I gave up. I'd rather buy a new mouse tomorow. It's very annoying that I usually stay up until 6 am just facing my computer. I went to a local internet shop here in my area and they will close at 12 midnight just to type my BIG RAT PROBLEM! These pest have gone too far now and tomorow it time to poison them!

I have read some post from other bloggers that the way to succeed in blogging is by blogging everyday and with interesting articles. That way you can gain traffic and possibilities of having your viewers to click on ads displayed on your site. I have done this for a month now and I come short at making good articles to read.

I spent most of my time with this and I almost never sleep looking for good paying sites according to testimonials from other people who had success from it. I even blogged about it to help myself keep track of what and how I am doing with it.( Check Here) If I am to earn from this then I have to invest on purchasing referrals. I never had luck in promoting my referral links and the sad part is I am a newbie and have no resources to put funds in my payment processors to purchase any referrals. But anyhow, all things comes from hard work and dedication.

Aside from PTC I like this better. I am currently enrolled in 3 sites and one of them is a favorite of mine because it has a lot of sections with regards to real life issues and I like ging over them. Although the pay out is high and earning is low. Just going over it amuses me and makes me forget that I am looking for money making oppurtunities.

Paid Surveys

I did not invest much of my time in this as I have read in forums that most offers are only available to western countries and they do not priorities asian or international member. And I am an asian and I did some registration and yes it does not prioritize asians. I am yet to encounter a good paying site that would have good offers for asians to do or complete survey

I have rceived an interesting email. It says that I have won money. And I thought to myelf that I didn't join in any online lottery how could have I won something? And the prize money is quite big. this is the second time I received a scam email for this year. The first I deleted it said I won $750,000 from a "Foundation de Vittorio" which I checked in the net. Here are some that many claims to pay them and I am trying them out myself.

1. Blogging. My brother showed me a message he received in his friendster account about the topic in a local tv program about bloggers who earn money. After trying it out myself it doesn't seem so easy. First you need to make a blog. Make post with interesting articles and put google adsense ads in it. The way to earn is that each time your viewers or guest drops by your blog is if they click on the ads. But take note, you must not click on your own ads if you don't want to have you adsense account banned. Adsense is very strict with cheat clicks and clickers are traced by their IP address.

2. Paid to click. There are hundreds of existing paid to click site now. You earn by click on the ads showed to you. Majority of the PTC sites I'm in have $0.01 cents per and 5-10 ads for you to click. You can reclick them after 24 hours. And you have to reach the minimum amount of pay-out in order to get your money. You also need a payment processing account. The most popular are Paypal, AlterPay, E-gold, LiberyPreserve, AlterGold and much more.

Looking for a free anti-virus software?

I had my anti-virus subscription expired last April. And I didn't bother to renew the subscription. (It was already in when I acquired this computer, and I am an out of school youth with no means of renewing the subscription). So I left it with its virus definition not updated for ages and no firewall on.

It was until when my brother was using the computer and he called me because of this windows virus update thing. That offers a free scan and then after the scan it would want you to purchase the one time payment of nearly $50. Wow! Nice deal huh? Still I did not bother to. As I mentioned I have no means of renewing or subscribing to it.

It became bothersome when it keeps interrupting me with a "...moster.spyware... is trying to attack your computer would you want to block it?" and when you press ok it would lead you back to the nearly $50 dollar one time subscription payment or else this moster spyware will harm your computer. And when ever you cancel it it would load for a bout 5 minutes (Meaning I had to wait for five minutes every time I cancel it). I really hate the interruption as it shows itself every 10 minutes while I'm at my computer. Until I asked a few people around a gaming irc channel of what would they recommend on a free anti-virus software. And they lead me to this. AVG free anti-virus software. And when I downloaded it, its better and whats more it's FREE!!

Reaction on: Filipinos cutting down on food, says survey

FILIPINO FAMILIES HAVE BEEN CUTTING back on their consumption to cope with double-digit inflation, according to a recent survey by Pulse Asia, Inc.
The survey showed that two in three households (66 percent) were "consuming less of and/ spending less on" food, while about one in four (24 percent) also said it cut back on rice consumption or spending.
Aside from food, Filipino households have also been consuming less of other items, such as electricity (53 percent), transportation and transport fuel (32 percent), and liquefied petroleum gas (31 percent).
Among households with cellphones (60 percent), about a fifth (22 percent) also said they reduced their cell phone pre-load expenses.

I can't put myself to think of what will be the economic situation here in the Philippines in the next 10 or 20 years. Everything is increasing, commodity prices, transport fuel, liquefied petroleum gas(LPG). And what? Jobs salaries aren't increasing to cope up with all the expenditure increase. It's sad to say, but cutting on all expenses is a practical approach for this matter, but it also increases the number of Filipinos being dragged to the poverty level of this country's socio-economic structure. It already had over half the population midline to poverty level before all this constant increase took place. I'm not sure if the government knows what they are doing in leading this country. Or are they busy filling their pockets with peoples money and compromising the quality of life for all Filipinos? (o_O)

Summary
After being dumped by her boyfriend just before their 100 day anniversary, Ha-Young, meets a college guy named Hyung-Joon when she accidentally kicks a can that hits him in the face and causes him to scratch his Lexus. ,I used to go to a university. And its one of the prestigious universities in the area. Locals have been amused with the latest sex scandal news. My brother told me some of the details, the rest I heard from the radio and read on the news paper.

Heres their little embarrassing situation.

Subject: A second year male and a first year female nursing student.
Venue: Parking lot beside the college of Nursing building
Witnesses: Some faculty and a lot of students who were having their classes at the time
Time: Between 9-10 am

It was a fair day when suddenly these two horny students decided to make out. Brave of them to do it within the university grounds, beside the nursing building with a lot of classes going on. They had their hormones going at each other. Both of them were having a great time! The girl was enjoying her nice lollipop, undressed, sweating and full of passion when they were confronted by some faculties of the nearby department. Was it human error for them to do it inside a lightly tainted car and when the sun was shining brightly? They hurriedly got dressed, and when they got out of the car, the sound of multitudes clapping their hands was heard. They never thought that their little hot action had an audience. And a lot at that! hahaha mostly students who had their classes interrupted. Maybe some of those managed to record them in their cellphones. As it got the administrations attention, immediately they were EXPELLED!! So ends their shot at the nursing profession. Imagine the shame they brought to themselves, their families, and the university.

Paying attention to the number 1 cause of death worldwide. What is it? And Things we can do to avoid it.

Ok, I was meaning to make a topic about this. So what is this number 1 killer worldwide?
I tried searching some answers surfing in google and heres what I got. According to this site the number one cause of death is Ischaemic heart disease. It is the most common cause of death, and a major cause of hospital admissions.

Ischaemic or ischemic heart disease (IHD), or myocardial ischaemia, is a disease characterized by reduced blood supply to the heart muscle, usually due to coronary artery disease (atherosclerosis of the coronary arteries).

Risks:
~ Its risk increases with age
~ gender (more common in men)
~ Heredity (people who have close relatives with ischaemic heart disease)
~ smoking
~ high cholesterol levels (hypercholesterolaemia)
~ diabetes
~ high blood pressure (hypertension)

Symptoms:
~ chest pain on exertion (Angina)
~ decreased exercise tolerance
~ unstable IHD presents itself as chest pain or other symptoms at rest
~ rapidly worsening angina

Diagnosis:
~ electrocardiogram
~ blood test (cardiac makers or cardiac stress testing)
~ coronary angiogram

Typhoon Frank: Still fresh in memory

It's been over 20 days since typhoon frank has hit the Philippines. And it has left an unforgettable experience for me. It was heavily raining two days prior to the flood. We we're busy living our lives, working out our problems and then the unforgettable July 21st came. The sky is gloomy and raining heavy. It stopped for about two hours and there we thought things could never get worst. It proved us wrong. It flooded, and the water level rose like crazy and most of us weren't able to prepare for its arrival. It flooded our streets, houses, schools, public markets, and people in lower places sought refuge in high places like their rooftops. Electricity and water supply was out. Most of us were up in the second floor of our houses lighting candles, feeling helpless and praying for God's mercy and salvation. We listened to the radio and all we hear are rescue operations being put to a halt because of the high water level.

A lot of people from different regions calling through telephones requesting to rescue their relatives. Hours at the radio, the most sad part of the news was this "A mother clinging on to a tree with her three children. Two were around the ages of 7 and 8 and the third was a 7 month old baby. She lost grasp of her infant in the attempt to grab of the three with her other two children held by her free hand" It gave me the shivers. More tragic reports came that we felt so helpless, forsaken and punished. The flood lasted for nearly a day. Many who are left on their roofs are hungry, wet and cold. Evacuation centers are overcrowding with people. No food, drinking water, dry clothes and medicines. Depending on relief operations from other regions. Typhoon frank left a lot of damages in infastructures, livelihood, and human casualties. Others we're traumatized.

Why are most filipinos going after the nursing profession?

It's been going around for a few years now, maybe even decades. Most Filipino families are sending their children into nursing school. Why is that? Here's a little background story. The nursing profession has been a demand in western countries that it opens a lot of opportunities for the Filipino people. With the high conversion of US dollar in Philippine money, even middle-aged professionals are shifting professions and are taking up the nursing course. Some would say its practicality, and I can't put myself to blame them. With the increasing product prices, it drives people to go for good earning jobs. And good earning jobs here in the Philippines are very limited to company executives and other ranking post. While being a nurse in other countries like the US, It makes people financially ahead than others. Although it gives quite an opportunity to elevate the family status, it would require an individual to sacrifice his/her own interest with regards to course choices. And doing a job you don't like compromises the quality of service.

I am a student nurse. And I can't blame my family in wanting me to take this profession even though I do not fully appreciate it.
