Paying attention to the number 1 cause of death worldwide. What is it? And Things we can do to avoid it.

Ok, I was meaning to make a topic about this. So what is this number 1 killer worldwide?
I tried searching some answers surfing in google and heres what I got. According to this site the number one cause of death is Ischaemic heart disease. It is the most common cause of death, and a major cause of hospital admissions.

Ischaemic or ischemic heart disease (IHD), or myocardial ischaemia, is a disease characterized by reduced blood supply to the heart muscle, usually due to coronary artery disease (atherosclerosis of the coronary arteries).

Risks:
~ Its risk increases with age
~ gender (more common in men)
~ Heredity (people who have close relatives with ischaemic heart disease)
~ smoking
~ high cholesterol levels (hypercholesterolaemia)
~ diabetes
~ high blood pressure (hypertension)

Symptoms:
~ chest pain on exertion (Angina)
~ decreased exercise tolerance
~ unstable IHD presents itself as chest pain or other symptoms at rest
~ rapidly worsening angina

Diagnosis:
~ electrocardiogram
~ blood test (cardiac makers or cardiac stress testing)
~ coronary angiogram

*Note: Depending on the symptoms and risk, treatment may be with medication, percutaneous coronary intervention (angioplasty) or coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG).

Prevention:
~ healthy diet (the usual advise)
~ exercise
~ medication for diabetes, cholesterol and high blood pressure (if you have these already)

Would you wait until you are experiencing symptoms and then decide to stop smoking?

Would you care to see some relatives and check on their health conditions and check if you have hereditary diseases that you should watch out?

Are you living a sedentary lifestyle? Well go out from time to time smell the fresh air and do a work out! Check on your lifestyle and maybe you need to make some changes.

Well its not too late to do these things! Start looking at your health.
